Another crazy multitrack video from the quarantine studios!

Watch me play all of the horn parts for a full big band chart on saxes!

Special thanks to Kevin Coady, who played the drums!

Another great multiplayer-video, Merlin. Really fun to listen!
The "real", blueshirt saxes sound a bit different to me than the green-and black brass saxes, more direct so to say. Just out of interest: Did you record/mix them in a different way or are these just the different voicings typical for these sections?
Thank you for great work!

Could be how I mixed it, but I also used different mics for each section.

The trumpet parts were done with a small diaphragm condenser mic to try and emphasize the edge. Bone parts were done with a large diaphragm dynamic mic, to bring out the body. Saxes were done with my usual large diaprhagm condenser.

Thank you, that makes totally sense and is exactly the way I hear it.

I'm really enjoying all of the multi track quarantine videos and this one is exceptionally good, Merlin! A great listen! Are you still on your original 889 tenor or have you upgraded? Whatever it is I like the sound of it! I still have my 889 that I talked with you about 10 years ago. I just hate polinshing it... :)

Yep, still the original 889. I don't do enough tenor gigs to upgrade.
