Hello guys! I can't quite afford the new saxes right now as a university student studying jazz double bass.... so I'm trying to get one of these Saxes used.

The Selmer Bundy II for 400$

Conn 20m for 350$

Some 1970s Conn for 350$ UPDATE: This is apparently a Shooting Star, going to look into it more.

Conn 18M for 150$

Also... I wouldn't hesitate to see if the music stores carry some used YAS-23s

Please and thanks :) Hope someone has some experience with these models!

So excited to start playing!

IMHO, the best horns on that list are actually the Conn Director and the Bundy.

You made a mistake, the Conn Director is NOT a '70's horn...look at the engraving...it reads USA...which means it's a '69 or earlier Director model...it's a 50M, made in USA. These are good horns...people do what you just did..mistake them for the Mexico-made Directors. But these are good players...intermediate or better level horns by today's standards. Seller is making a mistake which is a great benefit to you. A 50M in good shape is worth around $400-450...although it out-performs most Altos priced up to $1200....

The 18M's and 20M's are...if I may say so...pieces of crap. They are early 80's horns, completely retooled and redesigned from their historic predecessors...and while they ARE built solidly enough....they sound really icky...
