In your opinion and in your experience, sound wise, which tenor metal mouthpiece in SR Technologies line is closest to a Guardala MB (not a MBII, which is too bright for my taste)? Pro, Pro 115, Fusion, Fusion 115?

Is their facing in their .115 models any longer (or different) than in their standard models?

Thanks vbluesman.

Did you compare the facing of the Fusion 115 with the standard Fusion, or any other piece (like a Link) opened in the .105/.110 range? Is it longer? I don't ask if you measured their facings, but what you felt at playing them.

I ask the question because I already have a SR Tech Legend HR, which I like a lot, but if the Fusion 115 has the same facing length (so, rather short or medium to my feeling, certainly not long), I would have a hard time blowing it. The Legend is a .106.

One thing to consider is that the Fusion has a significantly smaller chamber that the MBII and therefore plays with somewhat less warmth and body. At least it does in my experience.

I am playing a metal Legend, but I also have a PRO 115 that I play sometimes. Very little (if any) difference in the amount of effort required to play the PRO. If you like the feel of the HR Legend, I don't think that the Fusion 115 with its high baffle would be any more difficult for you to play.

If you find the MBII to be to bright, you might like the PRO or PRO115. I assume you are looking for something a little brighter than your HR Legend. The Europa might be a good choice as well.

Sure, I'm looking for something brighter and edgier than the Legend, but still retaining a warm and solid core - and not as bright as the MBII.

I find that the legend is kind of mid way between a slant sig and a guardala, if that makes sense - or the interpretation of a slant sig that Dave Guardala could have made :).

Resurrecting this thread... For those of you who have an experience with the fusion .108 and .115, do you feel much difference? Do you need to change reed strength when swapping these two? Is there a noticeable sound difference, and which? Thank you!

I got two SR Tech mouthpieces this Summer, a .108 Europa and .108 Pro. I like the Europa very much, it's free blowing with a big, booming low end and it does everything well. The Pro just doesn't work at all for me, it's the most muffled mouthpiece I've ever tried. It looks very well made and the plating on it is gorgeous. I've tried different reeds on it and nothing.... I've played the Fusion and I liked it very much, nice tone. projection and altissimo. If you want a Guardala vibe, the Fusion is the way to go. I don't hear too much about SR Technologies anymore, are they still making mouthpieces?
