Hello all..Here's the story..My Selmer Series II sop had suffered some bad packing shipping damage before I got it..the horn had always been a bit stuffy which I attributed to everything but the horn..when I first took it to Kessler their Selmer experts charged me 60 bean and didn't do sh*t, they threw me out when I started asking questions...

Anyway turned out the whole horn was tweaked bad, nothing was sealing correctly, and after me playing it a couple of years it also needed pads etc..wasn't fun to play and getting worse.

So a couple of months back I sent it to South Florida Horns for evaluation, they were great explaining what was going on and gave me a very fair quote to do the repairs and complete overhaul.

Well I just got it back..it took awhile, and my straight horn is still a bit curved (character, right) but I gotta say..

...the horn upon return feels and looks absolutely like a NEW horn, just beautifully regulated, tight and quiet and plays really well.

I would highly recommend this fine shop.

I should mention how I discovered this shop. My prized Ebolin tenor mpc needed crack repair and a band for the shank, South Fla installed an aluminum sleeve band, any sign of cracking has vanished. Flawless job.

Hi Cash,
Scott lives about 10 minutes from me and he does fantastic work. I’ve recommended him to a lot of people. I’m glad you are so happy with what he has done for you. Hope you are well.

Sorry....

I can't quite understand this part of the story
Hi Milandro...The seller sent me the horn in the factory wooden Selmer case. it was not packed properly inside the case, at the upper end of my Sop there was 1/2 inch slack (the horn moved inside the case).. it bounced the neck area off the inside end of the hard wooden case for the whole cross-country shipping trip..

So the horn was not straight when I got it. My initial trip to my personal tech only yielded a bit of straightening and a bit better playability..but I still found myself futzing with reed/mpc/lig combos to even get the horn to play smoothly..it never did..

Finally in frustration I took the horn to Kesslers for a useless and disappointing experience with the "Selmer Experts". I was still fighting the horn and finally quit trying to play it, after that the horn sat on my shelf for a few months, I hated the damn thing.

During that time I had So Fla fix my Ebolin tenor mpc, I was really impressed with the quality of service..so I questioned Scott about fixing a bent soprano. He said he had done many and could handle the job..and he sure did.

So Milandro there is still just a slightly discernable angle looking down the horn. But bottom line after almost 2 yrs the Horn plays like a dream and feels like MINE

Milandro Yes..I asked that same question to the tech too..

..Evidently my horn was tweaked pretty bad from the terrible job of packing my seller did...

So visually there is still a tiny crooked distortion looking down the horn at certain angles..

But what SoFla Horns did was incredible, they did as much as humanly possible without starting over and stripping everything and putting it on an original Selmer mandrel..but that was simply not possible...Now besides cleaning and polishing they straightened stacks, leveled tone holes, and much more..the horn is clean and polished. Looks like a brand new one..

BUT..to make the horn "look" 100% straight just did not not happen..but for me it's close enough. A little "character" never hurt nobody, right?

Anyway I do not care as it feels and plays like a new horn..!!
