Thank you Mark (donnersm) for giving me the opportunity to pick this month's Tune! I'm delighted!

Like the title of this thread already gave away, the tune of this month is 'Caravan'!
I read the TOTM-index about five times, and was suprised that Caravan hadn't been picked before.

This tune always reminds me of the time when I started to play the sax, so it's sort of special to me. There are probably countless renditions of it, and here are two that I like very much:

Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers - insane version in a kind of jazz waltz. It has a long intro, but be sure to check out the B-part of the melody (and the rest ofcourse):

James Carter - in his younger days, on baritone. Very nice also:

I think a lot of different styles can be done with this one, and I have some backingtracks available (Chris_kn has been so kind to make a somewhat slower backing for us :) ).

Backingtracks and sheets can be found here:

I'm working on a crazy funky backingtrack myself, which I will share here ofcourse when it's finished. Feel free to share the wealth if you have usefull backing material!

Looking forward to all the contributions!!! :)

Or just try and swing like hell.
Right on! I'm going to try a fast version, and see how hard it can swing without too many notes (because I can't play that fast :) )

My favourite version of Caravan -Ben Webster live at the Renaissance:

Very nice one! Keep them coming!

It looks like the melody of the B part of the realbook sheets is some kind of alternative vocal version. Or atleast, it's not the melody as I know it.
The pdf's ending with '2' are the 'normal' ones.

Arno, the Bb_2 sheet doesn't load, please check (the C_2 and Eb_2 version work well).

Thanks for the info, Peter. The pdf is corrupted, so I can't get it to work now. I'll fix it at home later.
For now I temporarily added a screenshot.
Thanks Arno :).
