Right folks I've been handed the pick for TOTM this time so after a long hard think I think its Latin fever time  this tune is one of my faves and see its not been done on TOTM so here it is for us. I hope you all dig it. Such a pretty Latin piece. Theres lots of great takes on this and still my fave is Paul Desmonds amazing light version. Still the best pure alto tone of all time for me :) I could ramble on and put up lots of versions but yous know where to look for them, lol. Heres 5 backing tracks I got off youtube, theres some more on there also. Bobbys backing tracks also has a sweet one. Hope its to your likings fellow bendy metal blowers. Let me know your thoughts. Lets all get into the Latin vibe dudes :bluewink2:

Sweet choice, I will be playing this when I play in Poland next week, looking forward to doing this.
edit:
I actually recorded a version of this today!! I can honestly say I had no idea it was also going to be TOTM,
I will wait before posting a link to it on my youtube here.

To get it going heres a 1st bash on soprano over it, seemed to go in a more smooth jazz vibe, lots of reverb also.

What you two Geordie bendy metal blowers like at all. Nice version to kick things off Davey,
leaves you loads of time for more versions though:)

Come on Ian now it's recorded you might as well post it:)

Can I ask all folk please who take part to take time out to comment good or bad on ALL peoples takes please. Over the months I've been out of the TOTM I've noticed a small trend of folk doing a take or two and ever hardly making replys on other versions. For the true spirit of the TOTM and what it brings in great banter, advice, help and good times to us all please take time to post on all posts to all members involved, happy tooting to all.

I liked the solid start to your notes (attack), as well as your "just enough embellishment to keep the melody recognizable" slant !

Great tune.

Davey I liked your Soprano version. Smooth but with some tricky lines also. We're gonna have to hear a tenor version.

I'm gonna have to pull out the pedals for this one.
Done one a few ours ago !!!!! once I start I cant stop, sorry folks, lol.

This number is a real fave of mine so much so that I`ve already 2 from years back.

the 1st is here. https://myspace.com/cliveymacdougall/music/song/b-orpheus.mp3-76200198-84022137
using a midi BT from about 2010
and a salsa one here using BIAB.from about 3 years ago.

I`ll be looking forwards to getting involved this month with a new perspective.

I`ve listened to Daveys Tenor version but will wait until I`ve listened more and also to the Sop take before adding comments

special dispensations can be granted for those living in Hawaii, but in these cases the "no soprano" rule is always in effect. :bluewink2:
