OK - here we go for February ... nothing too fancy :

I Remember You

Here you'll find the sheets in Eb, Bb as well as C in case we get lucky and get a flute take !
Also a few backing tracks taken from YouTube :

Most of the vocal versions are fairly slow.
(I think Nat King Cole might be the standard.)

Most sax takes are faster :

Charlie Parker :

Stan Getz :

Cannonball Adderley :

I can't offer much in the way of analysis .. (maybe Dave could help me out  ) - looks like a bunch of II-V-I's and a couple of III-VI-II-V-I turnarounds.
My comments will probably be limited to "great job" and "nice one" as well ... :bluewink:

Thanks to Dave P for the nod and I'm looking forward to any and all versions - fast, slow, beginner or pro !

Very nice tune. I hope I can find time to record something this month.

Dave- are you offering psychological analysis or musical analysis? I could use a little of both. :)

I don't think you need any musical analysis of this tune, but I can definitely help with the former- I'm still hearing you not play so instruments that aren't soprano, so something isn't right in your head. :p

I read that Johnny Mercer had written the words of this tune for his love, starlet Judy Garland…giving it to her on the day after she married another man...

That would be quite fitting since I'm originally a Kansas girl...

Here's a clip I did this morning ..... been practicing a lot of classical alto lately so putting on a "real" mouthpiece and making some noise today was pretty darn refreshing! Alto setup is a Buescher Big B alto, Lamberson Fmaj7 mouthpiece, and a Jazz Select 3M reed.

Tryptykon — that's some hard swinging! I wonder who collected the pieces of Sonny's sax afterwards?
