From Wikipedia :

"Groovin' High" is an influential 1945 song by jazz composer and trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie. The song was a bebop mainstay that became a jazz standard, one of Gillespie's best known hits, and, according to Bebop: The Music and Its Players author Thomas Owens, "the first famous bebop recording".

Here's the link for the backings etc .. just look for the "download" button :

There are quite a few other backings on youtube as well.

I’ve always wanted to learn this tune but never got around to it.
Let’s see if I can get my fingers and head around it before the end of the year.?
Nice choice!

Yeah me too ... I forgot I had this book until I dug it out for "Afternoon in Paris" - so it was either this or "Night in Tunisia". :bluewink:

Yep, that’s why I was thinking about this tune.
Not sure I’m up to the challenge but as it’s getting near Christmas I’m sure if you’ve got a few egg nogs under your belt it’ll sound great.

The challenge will be a double rum egg nogg between each chorus ... see how many you can play ... :blackeye:

Great pick! To stay in Eb or go down to Db for the blowing section, that is the question...
Cool .. drop down a step for the solo ! :headbang:

Just realized they do this on the original recording ...
Maybe I'll adjust one of the backing tracks, stay tuned.

**edit**
OK, I added a backing with the two middle choruses in Db.
(but I haven't had the time to test it)

Okay, okay - I'll go first ...

Groovin' High

The wife was home so I was trying to not play too loudly .. on a dead reed.
Also had some trouble keeping up in the head.

That's all the excuses I can come up with now, but I'm sure I'll think of more ... :bluewink:
