I had an opportunity to listen to Jazz saxophonist Uwe Steinmetz with his trio and an choir performing Peter Schindler's "Missa in Jazz" in Helsinki's German Church on October 25th. The choir and the trio were on tour in Helsinki and Turku.
It was certainly a delightful night. Uwe's soprano sound blended very well with human voice in long tones. Occasionally Uwe played cadenza type of solos accompanied by the choir and keyboard and drums.
Later on I was invited to the reception and got to talk with Uwe and the musicians. Uwe is a jazz saxophonist/composer/educator living in Berlin and performing all over Europe and also in the USA. A nice and modest guy to talk with.
Thanks Uwe for an impressive music experience.
