Soprano session on a friend's new EP

Hi everybody,

With musician work in such short supply, I count myself very lucky to have been asked to record on my friend Marcos Villalta's latest EP. He asked me to play a soprano sax solo on the second track "Entering the Noisey Valley". Marcos plays every other instrument on the album, which is quite an impressive feat and very fitting given the times we are living through.

This solo was my first home recording. I should explain that because of the restrictions we have in Melbourne, I'm not really allowed to leave the house all that often. The mic is an AKG C414 XLII running through an Avid Fast Track Duo usb interface. I'm playing my wonderful early 90s Yani S-880 with a Yani 7 mouthpiece and RJS3s reeds. Marcos did all the mixing and mastering.

I hope you enjoy it!

Nice playing Paul. Fits really well into the track stylistically. The compositions have a real Hermento Pascoal flavour to them and I mean that as a sincere compliment. Best to you and Marcos for the EP. Alex
Thanks so much to all of you for the kind words.

Alex, it's funny that you should mention Hermeto. Marcos and I met in a group that plays Hermeto's music. It's fun, crazy, and such a flute/clarinet workout!
