I was asked to help out my friends high school marching band for the Toronto Santa Clause parade.
I am a tenor player and he asked me to play soprano. No problem with that. The problem is I don't have
a lyre attachment on my King Marigaux straight soprano..it broke off. I tried to rig something with a coat hanger..
but it doesn't work. Does anyone have any ideas as to attaching/rigging something off the bell and use a tenor lyre?
Please let me know. I need to get something together by next Saturday. Or is there a clip or something with an extention available on the market? thanks

You could use a Manhasset and move it every couple of steps ala Woody Allen and his 'cello in a marching band...or scotch tape your music onto the back of the player in front. :)
Maybe just play by ear?
How 'bout one of those lyres that clip on to your forearm?

If you are saying there is no place to attach a lyre to the horn, I have used a rubber back (to protect the horn) hose clamp up near the neck. Make sure the lyre itself is protecting the horn as well. It is not perfect, but it works! The lyre "arm" can be modified many ways to get it closer or farther away ...

Hope it helps
