My wife and I saw Sonny Rollins play on Sunday, May 13th, 2007 (yesterday) at Dartmouth College, and it was great. But he didn't announce any of the songs. I recognized a couple standards but others I knew the tune but not the title and some I'm sure were originals???

Can anyone supply the list of songs he played--if not this exact concert at least some recent ones? Hopefully some of the songs will be the same and I'll recognized the tune with the title?

Thanks.

Sirdoug,
Well, the first tune he announced as, "Sonny Please!". Otherwise, the only tune I knew was "In a Sentimental Mood", although the calypsos did seem familiar. Regardless, it was a great concert. Very cool that there was no trap set drummer. Unlike some of the reviews I've read here on SOTW lately, I thought the whole band was smokin'. Everyone had a LOT of solo exposure, the band was "hittin' the note", Sonny was on top of his game. Clifton Anderson was just....sick*. For me it was a night to remember...

* as in, really freakin' awesome, Dude.

My fiance and I are going to Sonny's concert at the Barbican this November - this'll be my fifth time and her third! Just wish to tickets weren't so darned expensive. But Sonny gives it his all, even at 76 years of age. He plays and plays and plays some more... then he plays and plays again. He's an unstoppable sax machine. Whereas I find some name saxophonists almost half his age who are very lazy and don't play much at all...
