Tonight I heard Sonny Rollins interviewed on NPR's OnPoint. The interviewer (Tom Ashbrook) is more familiar with political interviews than music interviews, so there were some questions that were off the beaten path. (One was something like, "do you compose from an intellectual perspective?") Bob Blumenthal was interviewed too, and listeners who caught the live hour phoned in with some questions. Sonny had several interesting things to say. I didn't know he did chin-ups on the bridge in addition to his practicing.

The radio show is available online for listening and comments. Usually there is a downloadable mp3 on the WBUR rss feed, but for some reason the show isn't listed there yet. The onpoint archives have a few other good jazz programs too, including shows on Monk and on Coltrane's sound
