After receiving 150 responses, we think it will be interesting to share some of the results in the early stage and see if things will have different outcomes.

Currently Vandoren is taking the lead and followed by Theo Wanne. SYOS and Jody Jazz tied on 3rd place.

Is there any brand that you think should be on the list ?

Interesting (odd) that Rovner mouthpieces are represented and not 10Mfan
Don’t get too caught up in it.
There are so many mouthpiece companies out there that are amongst favorites for many players, that are not on the list. Many including 10MFAN, Drake, Klum, D’addario, Navarro, Retro Revival, Matt Marantz, Gottsu, Saxquest, Freddie Gregory, Ishimori, Morgan, Pillinger, RPC, Berg Larsen, ASC, and the list just goes on and on and on and on…..

Pretty much useless - it needs binning to tell anything. Classical vs other, pro vs intermediate vs beginner, price point, metal, HR, plastic, etc.

Phil-Tone isn’t in it for the numbers, and he makes a great mouthpiece. Highly recommended despite not being on the pie chart.

Thanks doc. You are correct. I have zero interest in making a pir chart. I do, however, enjoy pie.

As far as research goes a N of 150 cannot begin to reflect the sax playing population. It just tells you what a hundred and fifty players who took the survey play. The fact that rovner shows up is warning enough that the numbers fail to reflect anything.

No offense intended. Just making an observation based on statistical issues

tech/data rant:

soooo much of this data/tech stuff is pure waste.

Too many "how" types running projects without a reasonable 'why'. Junk companies abound burning resources and money.

Broad sets of incoherent data points being forced into some result for stakeholders etc.

but who cares, right?

just keep busybusybusybusybusy, look important, help investors move their money around, fake innovation, suck resources for profit, mirror away and assimilate

Nothing interesting here, including the survey itself. Lots of the brands chosen on most of the questions aren’t widely used or even well-known. I’m interested to know if this company actually sells any microphones, their posts here as a company are kind of odd and cold.
