I like your free and linear approach!

Nice deep sub-tone on that C-melody, the higher register reminds me a bit of the bass clarinet sound of Eric Dolphy.

Your intonation needs some attention, but that was fun to listen to overall. :)

Great playing olds! I have actually been considering this song. I much prefer your most recent take. Feels more comfortable. Looking forward to hearing more from you, live your C-mel sound

Hey jmoen3,

Thanks so much for listening and your positive comments. I'm glad you prefer the recent take! I am actually using a more open (tenor) mouthpiece, which I was concerned at first would be too open for me, but I'm trying to make it work.

So I tried this again, here's another short version on the c melody sax:

Here's the older version, for comparison:

You may notice the sound is a little different...
Definitely your second go. Like jmoen3 comment. Feels like you getting more comfortable. A couple weeks playing shows. Great C Mel sound. Keep it up!
I'm curious with the open mouthpiece the reed used. Where are you on the cork ? This has the micro tuner if I remember correctly.

Thanks PigSquealer,

It's a Buescher so no microtuner. It has an extra long neck cork and the mouthpiece is almost all the way on. Today I tried a softer reed and it was more free-blowing and easier to play so I'm going to stick with those for now. I'm also looking for a better ligature so I'm thinking of just trying some string.
