listen to this Greg Osby song Streetjazz from 3d Lifetsyles (1993)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D38OlV0v-00

what are some of the "out" note patterns and approaches do you think he's using?
also rhythmically

also compare his style to Kenny Garrett

a very interesting and unique riff rhythmically occurs 1:58 - 2:02

also listen to 2:39 - 2:42

How intuitive is the chromaticism in this song or is it carefully thought out?
When I play very funky and squeeze in a lot of chromatic fragments, passing tones, A lot of syncopation I get some of this feel

Even at this early period he has scary technique, my opinion

There is some random qualities to the note selection and an element of a mechanical sound (he breaks out of it) but I'm still fascinated by this playing style
