Here's a clip of "Strasbourg St. Denis" from a gig I recently did with my buddy's band, live in New York City- hope you dig it!
Thanks so much!! I really have a blast and don't hold back in showing it. As for the guitar player, he wasn't bored at all- that's how he always is, playing or not. Most chill guy I've ever met!I Loved it, great song!...love the alto solo, especially the alto lick from 6:00-6:08, piano solo was great as well!...you always look like you're having fun dave...guitar player looked bored as hell though, lol.
They were in there somewhere...maybe?? Hahaha...thanks so much brother I really appreciate the compliment! Setup is very simple- 1974 Mark VI, stock meyer 5M, d'addario select jazz 3M filed, and eddie daniels rovner.Tsk Tsk.......and just *where* are the G pentatonics, sir? ;-)
One of the best alto sounds I've ever heard.....no lie! So what's the Mr. Smooth Pollack setup anyways?

Yeah, go figure....lol Dave, you probably know I too am ALL......ALL about sound as well. Sometimes I feel it's to the point where my technique suffers from being so focused on sound, but then I remind myself about what has always attracted me to the top 3 or 4 players I always listen to......sound.Hahah!
I'm ALL about sound...it's funny- if I post a clip of a burning tune, some people might say "just chops, no feel or sound, etc." but when I post something like this, I don't hear from them...hmmm...
Hope all is well!
YES!!! x1000000Yeah, go figure....lol Dave, you probably know I too am ALL......ALL about sound as well. 'Trane: sound
Stitt (moreso alto than tenor): sound
Artie Shaw (clarinet): sound
I could go on and on..... Honestly wouldn't matter to me if the players I mentioned above could only play quarter notes, because their sound is what has always fascinated me about them more than the notes. I tell every student that I've ever taught that without a sound that's solid, all of the "right" notes in the world will still sound like crap!
