Any smooth jazz mouthpiece without a step baffle out there?

Well Actually... I decided to buy the Beechler Diamond Inly mouthpiece.
So, I'm currently playing my Meyer 7...

Which Beechler Diamond piece s7s? s6s? or whatever... would fit my playing?

I would think most smooth jazz mouthpieces would be more likely to have a rollover baffle rather than a step baffle...

You can use ANY mouthpiece that gives you the sound you want for 'smooth jazz'.
What is it that you don't like about the Meyer?
Why do you want other suggestions if you've already decided on the Beechler?
What is your price range?

If you want help you have to give more info. :)

Well, Meyer 7 I think is pretty heavy and dark toned. I demand a piece that is quite bright and light...
So... I'm just sticking with Beechler Diamond here.
So, What is the right "size" for me (you know... compared to Meyer 7)

We can't tell you what the right 'size' is for you. That's something you will have to decide for yourself.
YOU are the one that has to play on it, NOT US! :)

Well Yes, I know.
But I really couldn't find any website that tells me all the tip openings there are...
So, I'm just asking people who knows Beechler well enough so that they maybe can decide.

Beechler tip openings http://beechler.com/tipopenings.htm
I have had several Beechler Diamonds: a s6s that had a 5 opening, another s6s that had a 7 opening....

I got some mouthpieces that all are very nice for smooth jazz-stuff, none of them has step baffles. All are refaced by myself, except the Beechler that EZ has refaced for me:
Vandoren Java A35:
Beechler Diamond s6s, refaced by EZ:
Meyer 0,083 with the baffle/the floor raised:
Vandoren V16 A5M opened to 6:
Runyon Custom:

Great Mouthpieces!!!
I think I will be settled with Beechler Diamond inlay s7s...
ALthough, your blue java a35 sound is what I'm really looking for..
IS there any way I can trade my Jumbo Java a45?

You can get a brand new Java in your tip of choice for just over a hundred bucks. They are a good value.
Wouldn't the brand new ones sound different than the recording one?
Since Blue Java is no longer in the market and that specific one is refaced?

The new ones are the same as the blue ones. Vandoren mouthpieces are very consistent off the shelf and refacing doesn't necessarily change the sound unless there is a significant change in the tip/baffle relationship.

The Blue java I got was dull and amlost impossible to find a reed for. Table, rails, tip, tip rail - everyting needed work. But now it is a very, nice piece. I hope the black one are better made from the factory.

A good old (or new) Meyer is fine, but a smaller tip is probably better;
That's awesome. I was going to post that same thing. He was one of the first jazz players I saw. It was Jay Beckenstein with Spyro Gyra and Marc Russo with the YellowJackets. Needless to say I went home a big Marc Russo fan.
