Hello all! I am looking for a new case, and am trying to decide between a silver protec contoured or a skb 440 with stuff pack on the exterior. My question is not about the protec, i know exactly what that one is like, but rather how sturdy the construction is on the skb?
how hard is the exterior plastic shell?
also, how much room is there in the stuff pouch on the exterior?
when you weigh in all the factors, which case is a better choice overall?

I can't speak specifically to the alto cases, but I'm off SKB cases in general. I have found that the cases and racks that I've purchased have had inferior latching systems. Their butterfly latches are really bad for long term, professional use. I've also had handles pull out of several cases, specifically the rolling equipment cases. If the case is not going to get heavy duty road use, then you will probably be ok, otherwise I would look to another manufacturer.
