I played a few gigs at a strip bar in Atlanta. Sounds good until you hear that it was the Clermont Lounge, the sleaziest, god forsaken sh*t hole that ever existed. Although, if 200 lb., 50 year old strippers are your thing, it was real nice.

The weirdest gig, sexually speaking, I've ever played was a Barbie, (the doll), convention at the Mariott Marquis in downtown Atlanta about 10 years ago. I was playing with a "new swing" band and we played two sets, one at noon, the other at 2:00. It was weird enough playing that early in a huge room, but the conference was attended largely by straight women in their 50's and gay guys in their 20's. In between sets, actors/models dressed as Ken and Barbie were married in a faux ceremony......these attendees were crying and gasping for joy. We drank heavily.

My band used to play the annual chili cook-off and potluck charity benefit at a strip club in Richmond, VA called Daddy Rabbit's. It was like a community potluck dinner with exotic dancers, and great chili! The best of all possible worlds! But very strange. . . . We provided the music every year for three or four years.

Where'd you get that nice metronome Marty?
Does it keep good time? Do you care?

I had a gig for a month in Dallas about 20 years ago for a lingerie show during lunch. I think it was at the Holiday Inn near DFW. We played from 11am-1pm while several beautiful women sauntered around in nothing but lingerie trying to sell items to the audience. Free food, hot chicks and lingerie... what more could a 20-yr old ask for at a gig? ;-)

She hopped on stage at the beginning of Sing Sing Sing with a Swing!

She was polyrhythmic!

(Hey, I just noticed...I'm not wearing my Chuck Taylors in this picture!)

For about a month-long stretch, strippers kept coming to my gigs a few years back. Different clubs, different strippers...about 4 gigs in a row.

True story from that stretch: One night was at a really slow place, and the bassist and drums took a solo on a song. The keyboard player and I grabbed some chairs and sat down in front of the stage, just for fun. The next thing I know, a leg swings over me, and this girl proceeds to give me a lap dance. A really good lap dance!

Needless to say, we took a break and I went to the bar and talked to her...she mentioned she was due to do a bachelor party for one of Snoop Dog's entourage that weekend. Don't know if I beleive it, but she looked (and danced) good enough to do it!

Just so ya'll don't think I'm a total perv, I did witness to another stripper who was feeling very down during that very same stretch...

Glastonbury festival, playing on a stage run by UK's famous punk sculptors & party organizers - The Mutoid Waste Company (for American readers- think The Burning Man Festival). Their whole area was like a cross between Mad Max 2 and the bar from Dusk Till Dawn. We played on a wierd stage built from hacked up cars, including the front end of a couple of Vauxhalls used as a lighting rig. All that and a couple of g-string wearing gogo dancers in cages on top of the PA stacks). Even had a couple of fire breathers on the sides of the stage jetting out flame bursts over the crowd.

Poor you! But I honestly don't think you're worth $5. ;)

This is a rerun, also posted on another thread, but one time I played for an annual meeting of employees of 'The Limited' clothing stores in Columbus, Ohio. It was held at an older dance hall venue north of Columbus (can't remember the name of the place or exactly where it was now) and there were like 400 women (sales clerks, buyers, store managers) and about 25 men (excluding the band members).

As an added perk, the BAR was right next to the bandstand...and the drinks were free...

By the end of the night we had women all over the bandstand...sitting in our laps while we played...dancing on the speakers...etc.

At the end of the night they all got on buses and headed back to their hotels in Columbus.

If I had been a younger man and in a different life situation I 'probably' would have followed the buses back to Columbus...
