I've owned two Top Hat 400s since ±2004. I recently listed them for sale here on SOTW (plug) and received a response asking if the serial numbers on the necks matched the horns.

I hate to admit this, but I don't think I ever noticed serial numbers on the necks. Am I totally out to lunch here?

I guess we need to hear from the person that posed the question to you - and whether they have ever observed serial numbers on the necks of Top Hat 400s. Perhaps it is specific to a range of serial numbers?

No serials on buescher necks. Some stamps on the tenon (alto necks), never on tenor necks/tenons.
Yup. None of the many, many Bueschers that I've owned have had anything stamped on the neck except the neck taper on the 20's through early 40's altos.
