Serial number 78153 is stamped on a Martin low pitch saprano. I'm trying to find out the year it was made, but (unless I'm reading the chart wrong) that number doesn't quite fit the Martin serial number chart that I've checked.

I'm hoping that someone here can help with this.

Thanks, rsands

I recently picked up a Martin Handcraft stencil soprano with a six digit serial #.
The number doesn't seem to fit any reference charts although on The Martin Story website, one year (1926) seems to have both a five and a six digit starting number for the year's production run...
Anyone know what's up with that?

What are the 6 digits? It is possible that it was made in the 30s. I have a Martin curvie from about 1938 so anything is possible. Mine is similar to the 20s horns but has no rear Eb and has the Martin Standard model engraving.
