For what it is worth, I decided to weigh my sax's necks because.....they felt different. The Mark VI felt "tinny".

The Martin Medalist neck weighs in at 6.5 oz and the Mark VI neck weighs in at 6 oz. That is after I stripped the lacquer of off of both. Yep, I'm a nutter.

I have no idea what that really means, just thought I'd share.

I'm going back inside into the music room for more comparisons.

I didn't get inside yet. I was applying to be Steven Hawkin's assistant. Yes, that is true.

The necks were "equal", in that they both had the octave key mechanism and mpc cork installed.

The saxes both use the same mounting style for the necks. The later Martins used a different style which probably could add weight.

I'm sure the Martin neck is slightly thicker, I just thought my initial observation, weight, was interesting. I guess I could disassemble them and weigh their individual pieces as well as measure the wall thickness. More to do tomorrow. BTW, I haven't weighed the total Mark VI yet.
