Unless you have some money that it has to be credited back to you from WWBW why would you want to buy this mouthpiece from them if you can find it from many other vendors around the world? Never heard of the definition of " standard" for a soloist ( maybe they mean a S80 the link you have added is a generic one so I don't know what you are talking about ).

Looks like they are in stock and ready to ship on my screen.
That's a frequent illusion. Sometimes they ship, sometimes they don't. The last order I placed indicated merchandise in stock, never shipped, turned into a multi-month back order until they finally canceled it. Silly me, I waited for my order rather than seeking another vendor.

Did I mention "the LAST order I placed"? I don't intend to order from them again if I can find what I want anywhere else.

If you have had good luck with them, it may have indeed been exactly that - "good luck".

I used to shop WWBW regularly - no more.

G'luck!

When I clicked the OP's link, it came up with the Soloist. I clicked the selection field and it came up with C** through F. The C** is just a tad more open than the C* and I suspect that would be a good choice if you want a fairly closed tip. I have the Soloist F for alto - nice enough but a bit too dark for my tastes. They are closing a bricks and mortar store. I believe that the online sales will continue.

With respect to WWBW having things in stock, well I tend to agree with Dr. G. Sometimes yes, sometimes no (regardless of what it says on the screen). However to Milandro's post, I see no evidence that they do NOT have it in stock. To the OP's original question, it appears pretty clear to me that by "standard" they mean "C*". They do leave a lot of room for confusion, but do show a picture of it.

We're sorry, but Selmer Paris Soloist Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece is unable to be added to the cart at this time. This generally due to the item being out of stock and no longer available or restricted by the vendor from shipping to your destination if being shipped outside the United States. We are more than happy to assist you in finding an alternative item. For more information please contact customer service....."

I had one of the Soloists in a C**. I thought it was one pf the brightest mouthpieces Selmer ever made. Maybe it's me, but I have a problem with the description "dark".

I suspect that the latter portion of that statement is the problem:"... restricted by the vendor from shipping to your destination if being shipped outside the United States.. It shows in stock and ready to ship for me.

I had a similar problem once though when I tried to buy a Vandoren piece online from a Canadian music store website. They were not allowed to ship Vandoren outside of Canada. I'm not sure where the OP resides, but if its a non-US address, the other Soloist options suggested here might best.

I'm not sure but it seems from the similarity of WWBW and Musicians Friend that they are both owned by Guitar Center. I always find what I need at Musicians Friend and their return policy is extremely liberal. Like 45 days for instruments. Recently I bought a clarinet there, played it for 30 days, decided I didn't like it, and they took it back and I got a full refund.

Martinm5862: I TOO have a problem with "dark" even though I use that term when describing what I hear. I don't know how else to describe it. I fully realize that others don't hear what I hear, as I've mentioned in many other posts over time. But the Soloist F on MY alto when I play it IS too dark for my tastes. As we all know, when someone else plays the same thing, they may play it or hear it as being bright. Totally subjective, I know. DAVE

i dont have shipping issues, im just looking for a C* soloist. and about the piece, i find C** soloist to be the darkest of all my pieces, and i play classical. im looking for a C* because i find that size more comfortable.
