As long as it's made for a Series III, the finish of the neck is irrelevant. As for sounding better... very subjective... and any difference discerned may be due to slight variations of the neck build rather than its coating.

I have a Selmer Series III Alto (Clear Leckquer) but the neck is little bit deformed, is it compatible to use a silver plate or gold plate neck for replacement??
If yes, will the sound being "better" by using the silverplated / gold plated neck?
