Hello to all,
I have gone through a bunch of threads and would like to know what neck would help my intonation on my Series I alto. The high C#,middle E and high E are extremely out of tune and have been since I got the horn back in
'84.:x I am the original owner of the horn. I have tried the alternate fingerings and have had my high E key adjusted. The alternate fingerings get cumbersome. I have read that a Series III neck helps the intonation, but I did not see if that helped all the problems. Is the Series I neck the problem? I have a link hard rubber 6* and that has helped a little. I play on ZZ reeds, and like their response. But the horn still plays sharp on those notes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Tx.

I actually have a very similar problem with my Series I and am planning to buy a new neck in a day or two. I've tired a Series II neck on it, and everything was fixed. Apparantly there are some errors when machining necks of the old selmer saxes...somone must have fallen asleep on the job.

Just thought I'd post this. I did not get a new neck. However, I was blessed enough to find a Bilger-Morgan 5* jazz mouthpiece and that combined with a Francois-Louis ligature has done amazing things with my horn! I no longer have the serious intonation problems I had before.
God Bless!
Jeff:)
