Last week I spotted a nearby Craigslist listing for a Suoer Dynaction, described as an “alto saxophone” although the photograph clearly showed a crook neck. Email correspondence has established it is an estate piece, seller is not knowledgeable about horns. Listing price seems reasonable for either alto or tenor, but it has me wondering how the value scales for the two would compare. I know they are both well regarded, but I’m wondering if one of them might be more highly regarded compared to its peers than the other. Is there a significant difference in desirability or market value between the alto and tenor SDAs?

I have a '72 SDA tenor in the house this weekend. I'm deciding whether to buy it. Tenors always are worth more than their comparable altos. The only one out there now is from a long time eBay seller who is asking $3000. Hypothetically, except for one fresh overhaul by a high end tech and sold by a reputable dealer, that's about as high as one might ask. Depending on condition, they can be worth significantly less.

There are a couple out on craigslist, if you cast your net wide enough. I use searchtempest a lot.
