OK, so a friend and fellow tech claims he's seen a sax with key cups that look like a flute touchpiece, with an indentation in the middle. Worse, he says I've seen it too (we went to tech school together). He's forgotten the brand and I have no memory of it. Any help?

I have one and it is a very good player. They were only made for a short time in the early 40s (myths abound) and were very Martin-like. Mine plays well even needing pads. They run a bit high but can be found under $2,000 in good shape. Mostly altos and some tenors although I have heard there were baris.

There's a popular story about a large quantity of these being lost at sea. Whether it's true or not, who knows...but it makes for an interesting story.

I have an alto as well. Unfortunately, mine is in need of a neck so it might be a while before I can comment on playability!

Although I've seen altos and tenors, I've yet to see or hear of a bari. That would be quite a sight to see.

On a slightly separate note...has anyone ever come across an ad for the Olds Super?
