Talking Heads, boring, boring......Put a 'Tone Edge' on a 62 and Johnny Hodges would be happy!
No love for David Byrne?

What about Tom Tom Club?

How 'bout some love for "Genius of Love"?

Back to the comparisons. Listening on my laptop speakers with my 69 year old ears, I couldn't hear any difference. They sound the same to me. Maybe if I was in the room with them ...

I listened on my el cheapo soundbar and the Seles was a tiny bit darker. Tiny tiny bit.

I wish that he had played the same thing on each horn, and I wish that they had left the long chatty section off altogether.

I have seen very few comparison videos done well. You need to play the same material, and you need to switch QUICKLY between instruments. One guy did a really good comparison of a Conn and Selmer where he played exactly the same thing and then interleaved the video clips so you would hear it switching back and forth every 5 seconds or so.

Didn't you get the impression that the video was a marketing piece for Seles Axos?
I very much enjoy almost all the sax.co.uk videos; fresh saxophone content--Pavlovian salivation! I find them entertaining, and occasionally learn something.
But I do not believe they are a public service, or intended to impress or inform a forum of saxophone experts.
They represent a considerable expense to the company in labor and other overhead, and so have a business purpose: sell more saxophones, and burnish the sax.co.uk brand and reputation.
So the question I ask myself after watching is, am I tempted to learn more about Axos? (Me? No, I had one, traded up to a great-deal Ref54 but before I was experienced enough to appreciate the Axos.)
$3k is still a lot of money, but in reach for serious developing players seeking serious tools. Isn't it fantastic that there are three outstanding options at that price point from Selmer Paris, Yanagisawa and Yamaha?

Sax.co.uk is a shop, marketing is their business!

I visited their shop in Euston once, it felt like a marketing exercise - especially as the "next door" shop was flutes (and wood wind) and, although a separate shop, was actually the same shop floor (I had to cross from one side to buy sax reeds to the other for clarinet reeds and pay separately)... Odd.
On the other hand, the Euston shop has now gone from their website.. a casualty of Corvid-19? I wish them well.
