I've been searching through the discussions of wireless systems and the Sampson Air 77 seems to be the best deal, for the money.

The other one I'm also thinking about is the AMT Wi5, except it's more than twice as much money.

Am I missing anything? Does quality justify the extra cost of the AMT? I'll mostly be using it on stage, but if the AMT is a good studio solution that might effect my decision. Does a wireless set-up put compression on the signal? I'm also assuming both these units meet FCC reg's.

Yes, most (if not all) wireless systems that I've used have a light compression (usually 2:1, IIRC). The Airline 77 uses the same capsule as the ATM 350. The WI 5 uses the Roam Elite for the mic element (I don't know who makes that capsule). I think that the WI 5 is frequency agile, but I'm not positive.

If they're new, they should be in compliance. I can't speak for changes up the road, though. My Airline 77 is illegal

So is mine. But if anybody asks, I'm using my wired clip-on. I don't know nuthin' 'bout no transmitter.
