I have been hearing alot about the references and have played both but never had the money to buy one. I would like to know a little about the serie II and III. I hear that the II has a nice dark warm tone but o.k ergos and o.k response. How about the III, I hear that it is bright but how bright are we talking? Is it like a yamaha or just a tad brighter than the other selmers? Any help to this question will be appreciated

I used to play a silver plated III alto that gave me headaches in close quarters - between the sweetness and brightness I think. Been a while to compare it to anything else.

lacquered series 3 with plastic resos is the way to go ... too bad they come with metal domed resos.
