I'm looking for a clarinet that is around $1200 or less to replace my E11 which is an intermediate model. I saw a good deal on a profesional model clarinet but it was made of rosewood. does anyone have any experience with rosewood clarinets? Is there a difference? Do they have different tone quality or anything else about them?

thank you very much

This summer my wife, SuzySax on SOTW, bought a matched pair of Leblanc Symphonie VII rosewood clarinets (A and Bb) off eBay for the price of one Buffet. They were instruments that had never been used. And I don't think they make this instrument anymore. Suzy liked them so well that she moved her Opus to backup.

We took the instrument in to fix a broken key mechanism and the tech could not believe how dry they were. Since he had never worked on a Rosewood instrument before he contacted his mentor and was told the special process to rehydrate the instruments. If you use the wrong stuff, the clarinet will turn as black as a regular clarinet.
