I was lucky enough to have a quick visit to NYC this past weekend and caught an incredible set at Smoke. The evening was dedicated to the music of Horace Silver and featured Jeremy Pelt on trumpet and Harold Mabern on piano. The standout though was Ronnie Cuber tearing it up on bari! What a perfect match of repertoire to Ronnie's strengths. I hadn't heard Ronnie in quite awhile and it was a reminder of what a great player he is!

Ronnie Cuber is one of a kind. I always go back to those burning early George Benson records with Dr. Lonnie on organ.
