Very sad. He was one of my absolute favourite pianists and I was lucky enough to see him play live in London in the 80s.

He played great solo piano and I've got his excellent recording from Montreux both on CD and DVD. And there is also his fine playing on the Gillespie, Rollins, Stitt session.

Thanks.

He plays on one of the BEST soprano album EVER recorder: Zoot Sims' "Soprano Sax". A must, specially for those who think they don't like soprano, like I did.
The perfect comping for Zoot.

When I heard he passed away I knew I heard that name before but couldn't place where. Then I read that he played on that Sonny Side Up album. I can hear that blues dripping piano solo intro of his to After Hours.

Another recording that I have that I forgot he played on. Thanks.
