I wondered the same thing. The website seems to indicate it is still open, but who knows about the long-term: https://villagevanguard.com/calendar-index/ . They list gigs through the summer. Let's hope there is someone crazy enough out there to want to keep the flame going.

Just imagine all the musicians she rubbed shoulders with over her long life. And all the live recordings at the Vanguard - she probably witnessed them all in person. Amazing.

I assumed they were able to stay open bc she owned the space.
I learned from one of Mr Bourdain's (RIP) shows that the all the old delis, markets, restaurants, etc in NYC are only able to stay open bc they own the space.
I hope Ms Gordon gave the building to someone who also carries a torch this incredible music.
I hope she had a will...

My band played one time at the Vanguard. Nice night. Max didn't wanna book us, but Lorraine made it happen.

The legendary all-star gig in Heaven? Lorraine's booking it now.
