I just heard of his passing.

I was never a huge fan (apart from being a fellow fly-fisher!) but he was a very colourful character and life needs them!

I hadn't heard this news. I wouldn't describe myself as a "fan" either, but I saw him perform in Ronnie Scott's about 18 months ago (I had gone primarily to see the supporting act) and I came away feeling that I had been thoroughly entertained. He was 80 going on 25, and a very talented singer, not to mention witty and flamboyant entertainer! RIP

Great Person, huge personality, extravagant,an original man and a free thinker above all! A man of many talents among which music was by no means the only public one. Well known for his outspoken views about almost anything and for being very frank about his bisexual lifestyle, he will be missed in this world of small personalities and mediocrity.

George was a great guy and i often bumped into him when i was in Lord Sutch's band many moons ago. RIP George
