A true Canadian classic dead at 62. I saw Doc play with altoist P J Perry a couple of times, but I'll bet some of the Canadian sax pros on SotW played with him at some point. Among many other things, he was one of the all-time great B3 players. The great piano part on Bob Seger's Night Moves was played by Doc.

Doug recorded and played with Moe Koffman.Saw Moe's quartet with Doug several times, especially at Georges' Spaghetti House. He was a monster player. He will be missed in the jazz community.

I got to work with Doug a few times on some TV recording dates, and also as copyist on a concert band commission. Monster B3 player. His loss has been a shock to us here in Toronto.
