I see plenty of eBay listings for Meyer Bakelite Saxophone Mouthpiece For Alto Flat Tone Jazz Music Instrument 5M,6M,7M as well as some for Vandorean AL3,AL4,AL5. One listing actually used the prefix of "Replica" but it appears to be the exact same as the other manufactured in China pieces. Some of the Meyer are listed as made by Meyer Alto China, many listings as manufactured in China all be it the Meyers are stamped "Made in USA". Have some mouthpiece manufactures actually produce legit pieces in China? Are these bogus/counterfeit and how do they get away with selling on ebay? Has anyone played one? I am tempted to buy one of the Meyer 5M and see how it stacks up against my authentic Meyer 5M (I think, who knows anymore) .

These mouthpieces are listed for $15 to $40, about 15% to 30% of ones from USA sellers.

Sorry - I just went down a few post and found Fake Vintage Mouthpiece Article Thoughts......
Still I wonder how they seem to get away with it and how are folks going to tell the difference between real and fake.

Fortunately a great deal of clarification and insight may be found here among those with often times astonishing degrees of knowledge. Best me thinks to buy over-the-counter pieces from your local music retailer.

There goes resell values for mid price ($100-$200) mouthpieces unless they look dull (used) on eBay. I live 150 miles from the nearest music retailer. I guess I've been lucky so far (2x) not chasing the nice shiny mouthpieces or buying the standard yamaha 4c/5c or Hites.
