as we all know, the Conn tenors have hard to use left hand spatula keys. it is virtually impossible to go from low Bb to C#. if you can do it, your pinky is stronger than my thumb, and you are a better man than me.

i heard that some techs can change the Conn spatulas to something similar to Yamaha or Selmer. is that true? some referrals and pricing for services would be much appreciated. thanks.

Possible to do. First lighten up the springs on the pinky keys. They can be really light and work OK. Remember to set them with the horn in the upright playing position. Example: the B key can be so light that when the pad is facing down on the tone hole it will fall shut but when the horn is upright, it will spring open. Easy to do.

C# is very easy to depress on a properly adjusted 10M.

Really, you do not have to press the side "Bb" next to the "B" Natural. You can press the Bb key at the bottom, like a normal one. I learned that from my teacher. If you really want to spend some money, my guess would be Steve Goodson, (saxgourmet.com) and Saxquest.com. Expect to spend about $300 at the least to $650 at the very most. There are also exercises that you can do with a trumpet valve finger enhancer, that will strengthen your pinky. You can buy one from wwbw.com
