I used a Snark tuner on my Vintage Reborn alto, something I SHOULD have done years ago, and discovered I/We were out of tune with the Cannonball mouthpiece. On the recommendation of my tech I tried a Vandoren V5 Classic A20. With the same reed I was suddenly in tune. Also tried a Meyer #5 M I had from a previous alto and it also had me/we out of tune. Not as bad as the Cannonball, but still off the mark. Played the Vandoren at an open mic last night and a fellow sax player asked what I had done to improve the sound in one week. OUCH!!! This is proof that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. :)

This is the second time I have heard this about that mpc...

Very strange for a company to issue a piece that is not in tune with their own horn.

Too bad because its not a bad sounding piece but out of tune doesnt cut it.
