Hi, I'm playing a JodyJazz DV mouthpiece with a power ring ligature, which sits very close to the tip of the Reed (Vandoren Java 3). I tried cutting the mouthpiece a bit, but it becomes asymmetric, so that the power ring doesn't hold it well. What can I do?

Get a different ligature. Those ring ligatures are the stupidest idea ever for exactly the problem you're having. How the lig fits is completely dependent upon the thickness of the reed blank.
