I know this is very subjective and I don't want to open a can of worms but please indulge me.
I believe I read some Phil recommends RSJ reeds for his mouthpieces and I thought I saw a thread once where he gave suggested reed strengths for his various tip openings. (ex. RJS 3S with a 7*).
Does anyone have this information anywhere or did I completely imagine it?

I have a Barone HR in an 8* and I usually use Rico orange box or Hemke 2s' with good results.

I know he's open to calling and talking but I feel as though he probably has better ways to be using his time.

Yeah, Sometimes the search function isn't very helpful.
I don't know if he has that info on his website. You've probably already checked it out though....

I don't know if he recommends the same for all players on all mouthpieces but when I ordered my Hollywood 7* he told me to use Jazz Select in either 2h unfiled or 3s filed. I told him what I was trying to achieve and he recommended the mouthpiece and reed combo that he thought would best help me reach my goal. In my case, he was right.

Shane, I used Rigotti Gold 2.5 S(strong) on the Jazz 7* (is that the piece in question?) with good success. I use the same on my Hollywood.

+ 1 For me the same thing. He knows what works. WWBW or MUSIC123 Has these reeds for a great price and free standard shipping in the US.
