If you are fortunate enough to visit the French coast in the Var region, you should make a stop at the wine tasting room at Domaine d'Anglade in Le Lavandou. The town is located between Toulon and St. Tropez. The connection to reeds is that the winery is owned by Bernard Van Doren - the same as in Vandoren reeds and mouthpieces. I was there on Wednesday and took the attached pictures. You can see the reed stock growing next to the grape vines. I was surprised at how tall the reed plants are. These pictures don't show that right across the street is the Mediterranean. The wind is always blowing which (in theory) gives our reeds the flexibility they need. Nice story any way. Fun experience and the wine is really good and affordable.
I'm not associated with Vandoren in any way and I wasn't compensated for this. It's the other way around - I'm giving them money for reeds, mouthpieces, and now wine.
