Here's the link: http://www.redstrap.be/RedStrap_TB.html

It seems it would be a good compromise: support of a harness, freedom of a strap. Looking at the pictures, it seems to me the two plastic clip thingies in the back could hurt your shoulder blades though.

All black is an option on the web site. A US store is not...
Exactly. But the red and black looks like you're wearing a regular strap!!! :bluewink:

I'm sending them an email for more info.

It looks really similar to a Gemini Sax Harness

I had a go of one at Frankfurt - I was quite impressed (for a harness...not really my sort of thing).
Can't say I noticed the clips at the rear, but then it wasn't a long-term test.
I particularly liked the way it spread the load over the shoulders.

Regards,

It indeed seems to be based on the same kind of design but there are a few differences.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I got a email response from the guys at restrap and here's their take on it:

The D-rings on the back are surrounded with the material of the straps, so it is soft.

Looks interesting, but I'd definitely want some shoulder pads on that thing. Nothing quite like hanging 16 lbs of brass off the equivelant of an old Hyman strap.

Thanks for posting this. I like the concept -- it definitely looks as though it would allow more freedom of movement than a typical harness. But I really don't like the look of that clip!

Are you sure you didn't confuse this thread with that one: http://forum.saxontheweb.net/showthread.php?166166-A-true-innovation-the-Saxholder-(plus-review)

Except that last time I checked, most straps weren't red!
I was being sarcastic. I should have used this smiley: :TGNCHK:

?? I use a BG harness and this isn't a problem...

Apparently, they include two hooks in the box. Not sure if it's for every model though...

You don't have an old shoulder injury you're nursing, do you?

I use a Neotech harness on bari. Spent 30 hours playing over 4 days a couple weeks ago. By day 2, even with the Neotech, you could hear my left shoulder clicking as I raised it.

Needs padding.

A black red strap. What next, a red black strap? I can't get over a red strap across my chest when I've spent most of my time trying to make it look like I'm not wearing a strap at all.

I have never tried any harness. Probably because I've never needed one. They look too cumbersome even if they are not. Hooks, D-rings, clips and more hooks and D-rings. When I see someone playing with one on, all I can do is concentrate on the harness and how it differs from a dog harness. Distracting.

That thing is ugly and may be no better than other harnesses on the market.

I must be missing something. Other than the colour, what is there about this design that's all that different from all the other harnesses out there? I can see that the section which attaches to the clip branches a lot closer to the clip than in most harnesses but it's not obvious that this would make all that much difference to freedom of movement, or anything really.

The length of the bit that attaches to the horn is longer than a Neotech and the hook isn't rigidly fixed to the side bits, but rather is allowed to slide freely on the center bit -- perhaps allowing for a little more side to side swing.

Still needs shoulder pads...

And what is wrong with a nice metal hook? I don't care how comfortable a strap is, if it doesn't have a metal hook I don't want it.

I think the curly hooks on the Rico straps are wonderful, the horn won't fall off easily if it's just hanging there (like in a doubling situation) and yet you can get it off quickly (like in a doubling situation).

I would try the red-black or red-red or even lavender-chartreuse harness strap if they put a nice metal hook on one. But plastic clip hooks? I don't trust em (I had one break once) and will never again buy a strap with one.

PS - I will send a free used reed to the first person that PMs me with the correct source for the color combination reference...
