today at NYJO rehearsals, someone was borrowing the NYJO tenor, and i had a quick look in the case, i think it was a yani 880, but anyway, i found a Link mouthpiece, styled and made identically to the metal mouthpieces, with the raised channel on top, with the same lig as the metal ones, but, it was a green plastic, it clearly said otto link on it, i will try and get some pics next week, also, it just has one raised band on the shank.
i am really curious, it sounded great.....

Please send me pics for the Mouthpice Museum if you can. I have seen a number of metal links in different colors, but I have never seen or heard of a metal-style plastic/ebonite piece.

Wow, now I'd pay for that. I wonder how it plays. Phil

If all the plating wears off of a piece of brass, it can end up looking like that...

I wonder if it's a just sax's 'chu' mouthpiece. He had ed pillinger make some resin copies of a tonemaster refced by jon van wie.
dzve to you goes the prize!
Nice call because you made it before the pictures were posted. I thought the same when I saw it. I have a 'Just Saxs Chu" so went and dug it out of the drawer. The shank is an exact match with the single ring and the table, rails, tip and baffle are also a match. Only difference is no ridge the Chu is smooth and has 'Just Saxs Chu" engraved down the back were the ridge is. Since Pillinger makes his pieces from castings of an original piece I assume this is one he didn't take the ridge off.
Very nice call.

I can't see the pictures - have they been removed ?

I've got several Pillingers and the bronzite ones do start to go green in the areas where they contact saliva. It worries me a bit putting that in my mouth ! So far the nronzite pieces have only got traces of green rather than being green all over, but they haven't been played very much.

I have also got a Pillinger moulded copy of an Otto Link and the outside of the body has picked up the markings of the original piece. They look a little faded, but you can see and feel the writing, the chain marking etc on the outside of the Pillinger copy.

If someone can put back the photos of this "mystery" green piece I can compare it with my Pillingers.

Rhys
