Hi all from Spain.Recently,i have adquired from ebay germany that mouthpiece, an original almost new, complete with cap and original fat screw ligature, 9 tip serial numbered w28 florida no usa metal otto link metal.
The seller have listed it as an earlly babbit wide tip, but fast, with poorly photos, I´ve identified it as what i think it was.
I received the piece yesterday and yes it is, i´m almost sure it was what i thinking. No usa on shank, small 9 tip font on side, serial numbered on other side w28...,tight on the cork,...so i put that piece like one of the first ones made on florida, the first next generation after the double ring links.
I can confirm almost sure too the piece have no work on it, neither baffle, neither table ,rails...almost the golden cover it´s intact and shiny too, with the "otto link" engraving crispy too, the ligature hasn´t the typical T but the screw it´s the fat one, virtually new too perfectly working condition.....
I played the piece and plays really wonderfull,a little more buzz and focused than my florida no usa 8* that is my pricipal piece but a gread sound ,...but one thing i saw first was the extremly freeblowing ability on this piece...makes thick reeds that are the right resistance on my florida 8* be fell almost dull with that piece, thing that i can´t understand with that opening and almost same baffle configuration as my florida no usa 8*??.Of course,i can´t measure de opening but comparing with my 8* looks correct like i little more open.
Fist time I blowed it puts on my mind coltranes sounds instactly, and sounded diferent from rest florida links i played..like said more focused and with more buzz, but still on the dark side...but really great!
The question it´s i have idea to put a price about florida usa and no usa on original big openings, but not much idea how much can be that 9 original on a very early no usa serial numbered,,,but think not too much pieces were made on that period on a big opening like can be 9 for the period. It´s because i´m in doubt about keeping it or selling, and it depends o how much money can get for it.
And like said, the piece it´s virtually new..the seller was and old guy that bought it i think new and didn´t played it too much.... The piece looks so new too that i i was thinking too on a falsification...a fake florida...but of course sounds and plays great like most floridas i owned.
So,how much can be the aprox. value of that piece for you?.....I´ve saw 10mFan listing same type florida on 5*-6 original openings at 1200-1500$...but like said...i´m looking for a price that can make justice about collectors value but truly reliable.....(sorry about my english).

Actually---I dont have ANY post double ring link metals 5*-6 with serials listed for $1200-$1500.
Please be careful to be accurate if you're going to quote someone else's prices.

No usa floridas with serials are worth alot. $1000 is a fair value for you to get.

Sorry Mark,i was talking from auctions i think saw time ago,and posible i´m mistaking with double line floridas on medium tip openings.I think i picked prices from that,so my fault. I´ve dealed with you several times and allways the pieces were worth the money without doubt.
Latelly, looking close to the baffle configuration on the piece,i´ve seen rollover seems more pronunciated than on my florida usa, that of course it´s not original, and maybe Greiffehagen, who refaced it, touched the baffle,...but i´m almost sure the freeblowing ability comes from that.
Anyway,i know it isn´t the correct site of the forum, but if someone it´s interested on buying it or trading it too, please let me now.In case of trade,i can be interested on rubber early babbits or slants too.Thank´s for the info and Bye!
Pd:i will post some photos soon if someone it´s interested on it.
