I should probably know this but obviously don't..anyway....

Why is the "Cut" on a Clarinet mouthpiece table (bottom) Square and
on the Sax oval ?

I talking about the end of the curve where the flat part of the mouthpiece starts (Reed Side)

I know it changes the reed sound but Why ???

Because clarinet players are usually more "square" compared to sax players.;)
Watch it. Some of us consider ourselves strongly rooted in both camps. (That said, there's no way I'm going to Clarinet Fest to hang out with thousands of Clarinettists for a whole weekend.)

Do you mean at the bottom of the mouthpiece window?

I do not see a reason for the differences in the shape at the base of the window "U". Guardalas have a more squared out shape.

I think the thickness and undercutting of this edge is a bigger deal than if it is squared off or round.
