I have a question for you guys and I’m hoping some of you can help.

I have my brand new hr soprano mouthpiece just released and the person who is doing my first videos for me is using a Theo enlightened ligature on my soprano, and he loves it on there.
He doesn’t have any other ligatures so I’m wondering if there are other players here who use Theo’s ligature on soprano, and if they could tell me what other ligatures fit the pieces that they use those ligatures on.

This would be very helpful for me so I can try them myself and recommend them to the buyers. I appreciate your help!

All the best, Mark

Mark. First congrats on your introduction of a soprano piece to your fine line-up. Personally felt the TW lig was never tight enough.

I use a Vandoren Optimum but since this will be added value to your piece that would be too expensive.

You could supply a Rovner to get people started.

Hi,
Thank you very much. I wasn’t looking to supply a ligature, I just want to be able to recommend different ligatures that will fit based on the fact that I know that the TW works perfectly.
I used to include a ligature with my metal pieces and I found that most people just wanted to use what they liked, so I stopped doing that. Also, not including one can help keep the price down for people who are going to use something different anyway.

I’m just looking to get some recommendations of what would be in that same size range as the TW.

Thank you very much.

Mark, that’s a good start but wouldn’t you want to buy a few to try yourself? Whatever people tell you is compatible may or may not work that well. We don’t have your mouthpiece to try them on. My 2c. Proof is in the pudding.

I have a Selmer 2 screw ligature that works great with the mouthpiece here, and my friend Reggie has the Theo lig that works great with it.
Those are two that I can recommend that will work for sure, and I’m looking for more.

I’m just looking for more examples from people who use Theo’s ligature on a sop piece, where it has a perfect fit, for other ligs they have that they can also use on their piece because they fit as great as Theo’s.

I am happy to and plan on buying those once I get the suggestions as to what people find work great. That’s why I am looking for some suggestions. :)

I sent a message to my friend Bryan who works with Theo, to see if he could check out some other ligatures that he has there that he feels are the same size.

I don't have an Enlightened Ligature for soprano (my experience with Link STM-style tenor size was quite enough, thank you), but if a standard Selmer two-screw fits, then most other ligatures SHOULD fit ("should" is one of my favorite words....). There are two common sizes of soprano mouthpiece (in HR) - Link, Selmer and a host of others, and Bari, which is quite a bit smaller. Most standard ligs will fit the larger size, but not Bari.

For soprano I really like the Bonade and D'Addario H ligatures. Also the "Rico" brand (also now by D'Addario) ligature, which is quite cheap, but well made. These are all 2-screw inverted styles, which I prefer for several reasons.

Yes,
Thank you Steve. I just talked to my friend Bryan over at Theos shop, and I told him the one Reggie is using is the S-XL lig and he said tons of ligatures will fit my piece without a problem. He said if people are looking at a ligature and it has two size options, get the larger size.

Thank you so much for your feedback also. I'll be going lig shopping soon. :)
