I recently purchased a mint condition YAS-62 . The bell logo is indeed Purple Logo ,BUT the neck is a black tuning fork . Was this common ? I’ve seen YAS-61/YTS-62’s with the purple logo but the neck logo was black . Anyone else have this ?

I've got a 62, first generation but without the purple logo. It has a black background on the Yamaha logo. Perhaps the neck was replaced early in the life of the sax, or it's a transitional 62 as they moved away from the purple logo to the engraved one. If it's not marked with 'g' or something then it seems likely to be original.

Why would it be rubbish ? People often change necks on horns all the time . I did not ask you for your opinion of the quality of the neck . I asked could it be The Original neck . I've seen Mk I 62's with the one piece guard that have stamped logos but do not have the Bb/C# key linkage which would indicate it is a first edition 62 minus the Purple Logo . I will be kind and simply reply to your negative comment as : Thank you for your input . Have a wonderful day mate .

Does your neck look like this one? If so it is an aftermarket neck and not the original.

I bought one of these (in silver plate) this past March for my 62II. Best move I ever made, my horn now plays with more clarity and more in tune than it played with the G-1 neck that came with it. As for the after-market tag I was told it was the upgrade neck for the intermediate model YAS-480, which leads me to believe it's the original 62 design. In any event my horn sounds great with it, so knowing what the exact model is is irrelevant ...

No surprise. The YAS-62II came stock with the G1 neck which had many reports of intonation issues. So the aftermarket neck you purchased on ebay would be an improvement for sure.

I'm good . I don't have thin skin . The question was pertaining to whether it was original or not . I never mentioned if the neck was good, bad or indifferent , but in today's world climate , it's easy to be a troll .

I've got a purple logo YAS-62 with the black logo on the neck too. Not sure how long the production on these was. Mine is a 45*** serial from 1990 if that helps.
