I need to ship an instrument (Soprano sized) for repair. I’m looking for a cheap (but super sturdy) alternativ to my normal gigbag. I’m looking for a cheap case with a foam liner i perhaps can customize for the job.

Any ideas or experienced?

This may not be the most popular opinion, but if you hold the keys down with cork, wrap the instrument in bubble wrap, and ship the instrument in a box with at least 2" of peanuts around it inside of a sturdy box it is at least as good as shipping it in a case. I have done this many times and it hasn't failed me yet.

Sounds like you're going to come out of this better than the usual advice of packing in a case and wrapping in bubble wrap.
